VIRET MAREOTIS RED 1.5L
$101.99
RHONE, FRANCE
Tasting Note: From a single parcel of white clay and limestone, “Maréotis”—named after a lake in northern Egypt near Alexandria—combines 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah which are harvested and vinified together during a lengthy 45-day maceration. This vintage spent four full years in a combination of mainly concrete barrels with no added sulfur, and despite its hefty 15.5% abv, it still offers lift and freshness. The aroma is earthy with hints of black cherry, black currant, cassis, oak, licorice, and leather. The palate is both smooth and very powerful with good structure and acidity, and spicy notes of black pepper and black cherry rounded out by bold, well-integrated tannins in the finish.
