SOUTH AFRICA

This South African Chenin, is dry, rich and tasty. Chenins are a favorite of mine because they are so versatile with food, and they are often undervalued. Somehow they have evaded popularity, but that is often the case with the coolest kids in school. The wine is fermented dry, but it has a wonderful fruity character and flavor. The texture is lightly rich and the flavors are full, but there is a crisp lightness to this Chenin that makes it uniquely refreshing. It has apricot and banana notes with good citrus to balance it out, but think more candied lemon rind, as opposed to pulp.

Food Pairings: salads and grilled salmon with a Dijon vinaigrette.
