AOSTA, ITALY
La Kiuva (lah kee-OO-vah) is a cooperative winery with 50 local grower members located in the heart of the Aosta Valley. The word kiuva is local dialect for a “sheaf of leaves” typically gathered in the fall to feed livestock. It’s also a play on the Italian “chi uva” meaning literally “who grape.” The slopes are steep everything must be done by hand! Aged for 12 months in oak and then another 6 in bottle, this beauty has a balsamic bouquet with sensations of red fruit and spicy notes. Nice acid & tannins!
